This tour will explore the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway and the Strathspey Railway with charter trains and authentic train consists. These two railroads will bring the the golden age of steam in Great Britain. Also when we travel from one railway to the other we plan to spend sometime on the Jacobite Steam Train.

The Strathspey Railway is one of gems among the preserved railways in Great Britain but not that well known. Wonderful landscapes and excellently restored locomotives and cars await you here. We will be running different train sets on both days, our locomotive consists will be the Ivatt 2MT 46464 and 46512. Both are very handy 2-6-0 locomotives that were typical for British branch lines in the steam era on British Rail. We plan two charter train sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

After an early breakfast, we take the bus southwards to the Jacobite Steam Train which was featured on the Harry Potter movies. Operated by West Coast Railway, this steam train only runs in the summer months. Chasing the train is difficult and we will not do that. We will set up at different scenic locations along the line and will have 4 opportunities to photograph two different trains. We then continue to Edinburgh and hotel check-in.

The Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway is also one of the less popular railways. This line is one of the favorite filming locations for the BBC and other producers. Beautiful scenery, authentic infrastructure and great trains. We will also have great train sets running here on two days. The local “Museum of Scottish Railways” will also be visited.
