Dear Trains Unlimited, Tours Client:

California Zephyr Railcar Charters is saddened by our customer, Trains Unlimited, Tours LLC’s (TUT) decision to cease doing business. Their loss will leave a significant void in our calendar of tours for 2009 and beyond. One of the tours that was originally offered by TUT is the Valentine Snowflake Express, set to occur Feb 14-16, 2009. We have agreed to assume the operation of this tour in place of Trains Unlimited. All correspondence, bookings, and other communications regarding this tour will be handled by our office in Costa Mesa, CA. Please note that guests will be staying at the Nugget Hotel in Sparks, NV. Accordingly, we have reduced the price of the Tour to $498 per person, based on double occupancy at the hotel. Guests wishing to reserve a bedroom for day use on the train may do so for an additional $100 per person. There is also a drawing room available for an additional $200 per person.

Aboard the train California Zephyr Railcar Charters will provide its usual superior service with light breakfast and luncheon eastbound, and luncheon and passed hors d’Oeuvres westbound, along with our complimentary bar.

As a goodwill gesture to our guests who have already paid a deposit to Trains Unlimited for this trip only, we will honor those and credit the amount of the deposit paid toward the tour price, should you wish to rebook with California Zephyr Railcar Charters.

Please note that we have every intention of operating this trip, however the ultimate decision whether to operate it or not will be contingent upon sufficient guests booking. In the event we do not have enough guests to break even, any monies that CZRC has collected will be refunded. This does not include deposits that may have previously been tendered to Trains Unlimited, Tours.

Once upon a time, Rail Barons and wealthy socialites traveled the country on luxurious private railroad cars. They dined with such amenities as fine china, linins & crystal, while being pampered by the onboard staff. Now this form of luxury rail travel is being offered to everyone, at a very reasonable price.

A small number of rail fans have purchased and refurbished private rail cars familiar to the first half of the 20th century. This was the Golden Age of passenger rail travel. These rail fans have spent around a million dollars on each private rail car, to refurbish and restore them to their original glory; in efforts to bring back this Golden Age of travel.

All onboard meals are prepared fresh and made to order by our gourmet chefs. Passengers can sip on cocktails and nibble on hors d'oeuvres while relaxing into deep leather sofas in lounges paneled in rich mahogany or gazing at the beauty of passing scenery from a restored California Zephyr vista dome car. Those booking a Private Pullman room on an overnight excursion may enjoy being lulled to sleep by the rhythm of the train wheels rolling down the track. Pullman rooms may also be reserved for day trips-for celebrations or simply for private rest and relaxation during your journey.

These private luxury rail cars are coupled onto the rear of scheduled Amtrak passenger trains, all over the country. Our first class passengers are separate from the Amtrak cars, by locked doors. However, you may step out into the vestibule between cars for fresh air, and an exciting rail experience-this is not allowed on the regular Amtrak cars.

We provide our own onboard staff; including our chef who will dazzle you with gourmet menus. All drinks and food are included in the ticket price from the time you step onboard, until you detrain. Everything is first class with every detail included; be it a day journey- or an excursion running for a week. This is passenger train travel at it's finest.

THE ITINERARY

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14 (L) Our private luxury dome cars are coupled to the rear of Amtrak's California Zephyr. The route begins in Emeryville, California and runs over the spectacular Donner Pass in the High Sierra's winter wonderland. Departure from Emeryville is at 8:55 AM arriving in Sparks at 4:01PM. A continental breakfast will be served upon departure from Emeryville. You may board at the following Amtrak stations: Emeryville, Martinez, Davis and Sacramento. You may chose to detrain in Truckee, if you like. Once we depart Sacramento, we will serve you a gourmet lunch onboard. Our bar will be open for the entire trip with unlimited drinks. Once in Sparks we will transfer you to the 5 star John Ascuaga's Nuggest Hotel & Casino. "Siena Hotel Spa & Casino located in downtown right on the Truckee River for your two night stay.

In the evening we will present a program covering the past 25 years of tours and charters around the world that has been operated by Trains Unlimited, Tours. A number of TUT staff and guides will be here to answer any questions you may have and talk about the future of railfan and railroad tours that will be offered by other tour operators.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 16: (L) We reboard our California Zephyr dome cars in Sparks, with a scheduled departure of 9:41AM and an arrival back in Emeryville at approximately 5:40 PM. A gourmet lunch and unlimited drinks will be served as we travel over Donner Pass for our return.
