In order to boost the bookings and get our tour to a sure-go status faster we will accept bookings without any deposits or payments at this time. Once we call the tour a sure-go then we will contact everyone that has booked and start collecting the final payments. Rare and remote milage is indeed the best way we can describe this 4 day excursion over
part of the former Southern Pacific Modoc Subdivision in Southern Oregon and Northern California plus the Lakeview Branch. The Modoc line between Klamath Falls and Alturas and several miles towards Wendel to the end of track at McArthur is now owned and operated by the Modoc Northern Railroad. This is a total of 107 miles. Then the former SP Lakeview Branch runs north out of Alturas for an additional 56 miles to Lakeview, Oregon running through the remote Pitt River Canyon and along the shores of Goose Lake. McArthur is still owned by the Union Pacific but operated by the Modoc Northern Railroad. Final sale of the line to Modoc Northern will take a couple of years. Our plan is to run our train all the way to Lakeview and we do have full support from the Modoc Northern.
If all goes as planned we will cover a total of 326 miles in 4 days.

![]() OCTOBER 5 FRIDAY: (L) Today our private charter train will depart from Klamath Falls, Oregon and run south to Alturas, California making several photo stops and run-bys. At this time we are hoping for a 8:00am departure. Overnight lodging in local motels. OCTOBER 6 SATURDAY: (L) We reboard our charter train at Alturas and run to the end of track at McArthur to as close to the bumper post as possible and stage a photo stop at this location. From McArthur on south into Nevada the rails have been removed by the Union Pacific. We will have a Modoc Northern engine follow us down to McArthur and pull us back to Alturas. We then head north towards Lakeview, Oregn on the Lake County Railroad, now operated by the Modoc Northern. An ongoing program to upgrade and repair the track between Alturas and Lakeview will continue on into the summer of 2007 and well into the Fall months. Modoc Northern management has just advised us during a recent meeting that they will not have all of the track work completed and repaired by October , but will allow our train to run over the section that has been repaired. At this time mangement does not know how far north out of Alturas we will be able to get. We will run as far as the railroad and the FRA will allow. At the end of the day we will again transfer all passengers back to the local motels for the night. OCTOBER 7 SUNDAY: (L) Depending upon how far north we get on the Lake County Railroad on Saturday and where we end up parking the train for the night will determine our operating schedule for today and where we end up parking the train for the night. Again, transfers by motorcoaches to local lodging for the night. OCTOBER 8 MONDAY: (L) Today we retrace our route back north to Klamath Falls, Oregon. We are estimating an arrival of around 5pm. |

| The Modoc Northern has taken over the operations of the Lake Country Railroad and is putting a lot of work and money into upgrading the line in the scenic and remote Pitt River Canyon. See below for photos of a Modoc Northern work train dumping rock in the canyon. Our charter train will run between Alturas and Lakeview making many photo run-bys over remote and rare milage. We will even be able to use the one Lake County diesel for power. |
