La Veta Pass Photo Freight II
TOUR 42
RAILFAN TOUR
OCTOBER 27-28, 2009
This Excursion Is Limited To 40 Railfans Only.

Above photos by Ron Burkhard

This excursion will focus on many photo run-bys between Alamosa and the town of La Veta, Colorado including La Veta Pass. We will have a classic freight train consist using older cars. This is a great opportunity to see and photograph a time period freight train pulled by steam on La Veta Pass. It is not clear at this time which steam locomotive will be available to pull our train. If both locomotives are back in service then we will request to use one engine on day 1 and the 2nd engine on day 2.

DAY 1 SATURDAY MAY 2: (L) Our train will travel from Alamosa to La Veta. Many Photo run-bys will be stage in the La Veta Pass region. Lodging is included tonight in the small town of La Veta, Colorado. Later in the evening after dinner we will stage a night photo session.

DAY 2 SUNDAY MAY 3: (B-L) We reboard our train and spend the full day between La Veta and Alamosa, again staging many photo run-bys.
