The old and the new running down the California Coast
San Diego is well known for four big attractions, the world famous San Diego Zoo, legoland, Sea World , the San Diego Wild Animal Park and Balboa Park. However, this beautiful southern California city has much to offer visitors. Sunny skies, warm ocean breezes and an average year round temperature of 70 degrees. It does not get any better than this.
The famous San Diego Trolley and metro buses meet all trains right at the depot and can take you just about anyplace you like within the city and countryside. If you want to ride the San Diego Trolley all the way to the Mexican border you can do so and then walk over to Mexico for the day. May we suggest you just might like to take the family up to Balboa Park to visit the vast San Diego Zoo , home to more than 4,000 rare and endangered animals representing more than 800 species and subspecies. Perhaps you would enjoy visiting the San Diego Model Railroad Museum which now has 27,000 sq. feet of operating model trains and displays and is the largest indoor model railroad in the world. Also while in Balboa Park why not visit some of the world class lush gardens. There are now over 20 lovely gardens on 1,200 acres, offering magnificent backdrop for the cultural attractions. Balboa Park is ranked among the best parks in the world. Did you know that Balboa Park has the largest concentration of museums west of the Mississippi. History buffs will enjoy visiting historic Old Town.
The famous San Diego Trolley system runs right to the classic old Santa Fe depot in downtown San Diego.
BE SURE AND VISIT BALBOA PARK
As the day winds down you will head back to the train station to board our private rail cars for the journey back to Los Angeles. Our cars will be attached to northbound train number 591 departing at 6:20pm. Upon departure we will serve cocktails, drinks and hors d' oeuvres before dinner. Our chefs and professional onboard
staff will then serve a full freshly prepared gourmet dinner in the two vista domes on crisp linens, marked china, silverware, crystal and fresh cut flowers on each table. As the sun sets in the Pacific Ocean sit back and enjoy our luxury first class service. Arrival back in Los Angeles is scheduled for 9:05pm. So ends a wonderful day of luxury and excitment for the entire family.
